Two Arms

The apartment all of a sudden is empty
Today I left for the army and you are all alone

Eight long weeks I will be in training
Far away and unable to speak on the phone

Tears in your eyes and a longing in your heart
Sleepless nights wondering how to make it through

Pushups and jogging should be keeping me busy
Though nothing will keep my mind from you

If on a cold night, sleep will not find your eyes
Relax and play this scenario in your head

Imagine that we have just finished dining
The dishes are washed and we climb into bed

Turning out the lights and rolling my way
There are two loving arms wrapping around you

Now comfortable you drift off to sleep
Knowing this is something I will always do

Try not to worry. It will come to pass
By Christmas your soldier will be back in sight

We will shop for presents and see the family
Then go home and keep the neighbors up all night
